Services: The chapel has been made available to the Orthodox Community of St Bega, St Mungo and St Herbert in Keswick who hold their Sunday Liturgy in the chapel every week.
At present there are no Methodist services on Sundays although the building is occasionally used for meetings and retreats.
Location: The village of Braithwaite lies at the foot of the Whinlatter Pass. The Methodist Church is on the edge of the village, postcode CA12 5RY.
Methodism made its appearance in Braithwaite in the mid-1830s, services being regularly held there in 1835. In 1850 the worshippers moved from meeting in the home of John Bailiff to a new chapel, which had cost them £70.
In 1876 the chapel was completely rebuilt to become the present building, at a cost of £250. In the 1980s the Chapel part of the premises was converted to a residential centre especially for young people, and the Sunday School part was made into a smaller chapel.
